Ordination

Ordination is a process for provisionally licensed men and women (provisionally licensed for a minimum of 2 years) that encourages the leader’s character, expands their competencies, and affirms God’s call on their lives to long-term service.

Disclaimer: The following steps are sometimes completed in a different order depending on calendar of events and based on each candidate’s situation.

 Step 1

Start Application Process and Schedule Assessment

At the end of the Assessment Interview, you’ll receive a Personal Development Plan designed to grow your character and competencies for long-term ministry.

 Step 2

Attend all four modules within two years of your Assessment.

Modules are offered twice per year and are each two-days spent with fellow candidates pursuing ordination in the district. The modules exist to expand a leader’s competencies in the key areas listed below and include writing workshops to work on your position papers.

  • The Spirit Filled Leader Module

    • Key topics: Fruit of the Spirit, gifts of the Spirit, learning and operating in your gifts, leadership in the power of the Spirit, abiding in Christ (John 15), personal and corporate prayer.

    • Paper Writing Workshop: Healer, Christ’s Body

  • The Missional Leader Module

    • Topics: The Father Heart of God, Exegeting the Culture, Creating a Missional Ministry Culture, One Size Doesn’t Fit All (mission in different contexts).

    • Paper Writing Workshop: Savior, Mission

  • The Formed Leader Module

    • Topics: Pure Desire, Emotional Spiritually Healthy, Soul Care, How God Forms the Leader’s Soul, The Shadow Side of Leadership.

    • Paper Writing Workshop: Sanctifier

  • The Pastoral Leader Module

    • Topics: Peacemaking/church discipline, communication/preaching, making disciples + equipping leaders, leadership, vision casting.

    • Paper Writing Workshop: Coming King

 Step 4

Present Ordination Capstone Project to LOC Team.

The Capstone Project will incorporate your ministry philosophy and vision, doctrinal understanding, and personal growth into a single presentation.

The LOC Team will interview you about your Project and affirm the work you have done on any Assessment conditions. They will then present your results for ordination.
