By partnering directly with the Lead Planter and being part of the TLR pastoral team, the Resident will learn the components of attractional, missional, and spiritual health ministries, and the details of coordinating the leadership and activities of each area. This broad range of experience will help them to develop and prepare for their future role of being a lead pastor in a church plant. A more detailed role description will be provided upon hiring.

  • Learn Personal Ministry.
As a Resident is exposed to all the ministries of the church, they will discover and develop their particular areas of giftedness. They will also learn service, character, conflict resolution, and more.

    • Equipping around spiritual gifts.

    • What is my role in a church plant?

Year Two

  • Lead an Established Ministry.
Each Resident must use and develop their leadership gifts. If they cannot lead in a local church context, they will not be able to lead in a planting situation. Leadership includes casting vision, delegation, completing group objectives, resolving conflict and more.

    • Leadership development and capacity.

    • How do I develop my leadership skills?

  • Launch a New Ministry.
Each Resident with perceived apostolic gifts will start a church ministry from scratch. They must discover a God-given vision, build a team, and launch a ministry with the goal of adding value to the church while learning launch skills in a coached environment.

    • Ministry vision, strategy, and implementation.

    • Can I start a ministry? Can I mobilize people around a vision?

Year Three

  • Sharpen your call through a four-day Assessment with your spouse answering the questions:

    • What is God’s timing?

    • Am I and my family ready now?

    • What must I develop?

    • Have I completed the Alliance Northwest's LOC process? (Licensing, Ordination or Consecration)

  • Leave The Living Room with a team to plant. The Living Room will assist in thinking through structure, team, funding, location, timeline, etc. for the new church.

    • Phase One - Conception: Vision, Values, Strategy, Structure for plant. Do I have a viable planting plan that others will support?

    • Phase Two - Preparation: Team development implementation. Am I ready to launch a church plant?

    • Phase Three - LAUNCH!

The plant will ideally include Residents who are in the "Lead and Launch" phases of their residency, making the new church a Greenhouse, a church that will also plant new churches.
