Children’s Ministry Director
Missio Community is looking for Pastor/Director to lead Missio’s vision to minister to children of the church and the broader community.
The goal of this role is to create a vibrant and safe learning environment that allows children to develop and engage their personal faith in Jesus Christ, by inspiring and leading volunteers to invest their gifts and talents in the growth of children so that they become disciples of Jesus who make disciples in the world.
The ideal candidate has significant experience leading volunteers and ministering to children, as well as experience working with parents. This role requires a person who relates well with people of different ages and backgrounds.
Oversee all ministry for children from infancy through 5th grade throughout the church.
In consultation with Lead Pastor, develop a vision for the children’s ministry that contributes to the church’s overall vision. Develop a ministry plan to achieve that vision.
Recruit, develop, and deploy children’s ministry Team Leads and volunteers.
Provide relational discipleship, training, and care to Team Leads and volunteers.
In consultation with Lead Pastor and other children’s ministry leaders, develop an annual budget for the children’s ministry and operate within the constraints of that budget.
Identify and execute ministry and missions opportunities for children to participate in.
Explore emerging practices and technologies that help engage more volunteers in the ministry of the church, and create a vibrant and effective children’s ministry.
Review all curriculum used by the children’s ministry and ensure they are consistent with the church’s doctrinal commitments.
Maintain established security systems that protect children in our church’s care.
Plan and oversee special events related to children and families.
Regularly report to the Lead Pastor and the community about the accomplishments of the children’s ministry.
Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (Child dedications, teach in the adult worship service, etc.).
A personal, growing faith in Jesus and the pursuit of becoming like him in character and competency.
A sense of calling toward pastoral ministry.
A bachelor’s degree (preferably in Education or Christian Ministry).
2-3 years of experience in at least a part-time ministry context with children.
A desire to teach and disciple children in Biblical truth: the Words, Works, and Ways of Jesus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of Missio.
A commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Missio.
Ability to pass a background check.
A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).
2 Years Starting Fall 2018
18-20 hours per week
Paid hourly depending on experience.
