We have followed Doug & Anya Holcomb's journey as a field for the past few years, as they have transitioned from serving with CAMA in Kosovo to Salem, Oregon. As their story unfolds, it continues to give a clear sense of how God is working to call people to Him in surprising and miraculous ways. In December, the Holcombs shared another piece of news that added to this impression.
Barbara Day, Chief of Domestic Resettlement and Refugee Admissions from the U.S. Department of State, visited a monthly meeting of Salem For Refugees, as well as accompanied the Holcombs to various meetings and refugee home visits. Her goal in coming was to learn more about Salem For Refugees' model of support for Salem's new refugee neighbors.
At the end of the day, she shared with Doug & Anya that she had not seen anything like what they are doing, anywhere in the country, and wanted to know more about how the programs could be replicated. Very encouraging!
